Bypass the same old tired gifts for the bride of coffee maker, toaster, or china place settings. Turn your knowledge of the bride and her groom into a unique gift that could only come from you. It doesn’t have to be expensive and probably won’t cost you more than that place setting.
A night out on the town After all the engagement parties, showers and wedding festivities, the bridal couple may feel a little let down when life returns to normal after the honeymoon. Treat the bride and her hubby with a night out on the town. Line a basket with gift tissue or straw. Include tickets to a movie, play, or symphony performance that’s getting rave reviews. If you’re not sure of when the couple has a free spot on the calendar include a gift certificate that can be redeemed for the tickets. Add a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers and a box of very good chocolates for an after theater snack.
A night at home Find a DVD of her favorite classic movie. Package it with gourmet popcorn, licorice twists or other movie theater candy, soft drinks and a CD of the sound track of the movie. Depending on the movie and the season, add a warm throw to snuggle under or a couple of beach towels.
Her favorite dish Most brides have a favorite food dish they love. Find an online recipe for the dish or a cookbook that has the recipe. Bookmark the recipe in the cookbook with a brightly colored ribbon. Place the cookbook or the recipe and the nonperishable ingredients in an appropriate container. Add a gift certificate to a gourmet grocer for the perishable items. For example: If her favorite dish is lasagna, the gift would include no cook lasagna noodles, a jar of good marina sauce, a hunk of Reggiano parmesan cheese, olive oil, cheese grater, pot holders, bottle of Chianti wine, with a gift certificate for the fresh mozzarella cheese and ricotta cheese. Place the items in a colander that has been lined with a couple of red checkered dish towels.
